identifying insects in a high density built environment - although there are some additional plantings across one four lane street, and similar green spaces loosely connected in that area (supreme court building, MacKenna Triangle), the streets are high traffic, and tall buildings on most sides block the sun in early and late hours of the day. in general, the park is less windy than some, and gets hot in the mid summer. Growing trees may help moderate conditions in coming years.

We hope to feed this data into a map of insect life across the City. Washington Market Park project has similar goals.

this park is a few years old, but is still in the process of being planted. I have been pulling invasive vines, as they are taking over all the plantings.

To contribute, just photo and identify (if possible) insects appearing in this or green areas within a four block radius. ID park/greenspace (e.g., street tree containers or MacKenna vs. Rafferty Triangle).
