Field Notes

Description:

A group of tiny fungi growing on a unknown plant's leaf. They resemble yellow cups with serrated border. The leaf formed kind of a boulder where the fungi were attached, but there was no damage on the leaf's underside.Photo #3 shows its real size.

Good that you have a leaf sample. There are lots of different kinds out there. I wish you luck with your search :)
Thank you, Gatorfellows. I got a sample of the leaf, it will help also.
This looks like a rust fungus. It makes these kind of fruiting bodies (orange) which release reproductive spores. The growth of the fruiting bodies ruptures the epidermal surface of the leaf to produce lesions. Rust fungi are plant parasites. Hope this helps narrow your search.
