Field Notes

Description:

The pictures will do far more justice as I don't have the vocabulary to describe what I'm seeing. I started my search into Google with "Orangeish see through ladybug". But she does appear to have orange legs and possible beige antennae.

Habitat:

Northern Georgia, US. The backyard we pulled it from has multiple types of fruit trees, herbs and flowers with a heated salt pool. The soil is loamy and mostly covered in mulch.

Notes:

Found on a eucalyptus twig at my neighbors. We didn't see the beetle or any of the eggs(?) last night. But upon seeing it this morning and doing a light dig to determine the species, I landed on possibly Adalia Decempunctata linnaeus. But it doesn't appear to be found in North America.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

The lady bug has begun to eat the eucalyptus leaf. I'm now fairly certain it is a Chrysophtharta m-fuscum, Eucalyptus Beetle. It's listed as an invasive species in California, but I don't see anything about it being in Georgia. Does anyone else have any info on this?
