Red-eyed Vireo
Vireo olivaceus
37.7666, -122.471
Field Notes
Description:
This rare bird was spotted in SF Botanical Gardens in GGP. Confirmed as a Red-eye by the facial pattern, and sound. Though almost similar to the Warbling Vireo that migrates through, this bird has a more dramatic facial pattern. Dark bordered one white above and below. Greenish instead of gray on back. Sound to seems louder then the Warbling Vireo. Which I could hear from over 400ft away and was able to follow the sound to the bird as it moved around this section and near a fenced off reservoir.
Habitat:
It favored the California Native section of the park. Most of this area has conifers and oaks
Notes:
Sorry about the exposure, it was an overcast morning.
