Lovely spotting ! Linnea, this could be a kind of Croton. these plants have variegated leaves and are very ornamental. have a look at this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codiaeum_variegatum I am not suggesting that this spotting is the same as the one in the link but it might give you some clues...
