Great egret

Yes to both of you haha. They nest communally, and those are called rookeries. The biggest I've seen was well over 10,000 birds, a mix of ibis, cormorants, cattle egrets, spoonbills, great egrets, and snowy egrets. But even when it isn't mating time of year, they will still hang out in the rookeries to sleep and rest.

They can be but they also mate in trees and have nests there with young!

So when they are in trees during the day are they possibly resting? :)

No problem :) Many of the egrets and herons sleep in trees at night, so in the evenings you can see dozens, or sometimes hundreds, all gathering in trees together. It is pretty cool!

It is interesting seeing them in trees. Sometimes we see that. Usually, I only see them on the ground.
