Field Notes

Description:

Also known as Crimson Marsh Glider. A medium sized dragonfly although on the smaller side for this family. Male (pictured) is a lovely dusky pink, flattened abdomen with a purple thorax. Amber patches at the base of the wings and wing veins are also pinky/red.

Habitat:

Wetland habitat. This one observed at the Singapore Botanic Gardens by Swan Lake.

Notes:

The females are are yellow and black with yellow patches at the wing base.

Thank you Polilla. When the sun is on it, the dragonfly is like a little pink beacon among the greenery. Very beautiful.
