Description:

Mushroom seen along the trail going up Mt. Makiling.

My initial ID for confirmation is Ganoderma sp.

Habitat:

Mount Makiling Forest Reserve in Los Baños, Laguna.

I think it more likely that this is a belted conk e.g. Fomitopsis pinicola, though I don't know if that species lives in that area. Ganodermas are annuals--did you find old ones on the same log? Conks are longer-lived.
