Field Notes

Description:

They are a dark green above and light green below with red/orange on the front underside. The "ear" is dark and much longer than most other sunfish species.

Habitat:

Found in eastern North America in freshwater streams that are rocky or vegetated.

Notes:

He was returned to the water after a few pictures.
