Field Notes

Description:

The picture is a little blurry, as the duck was a little out of range, and the light quality was poor for my camera. From what I can see in the picture the duck has a reddish brown body, blue bill, white cheek patch, and black top cap. When I tried to get a better picture the duck would dive below the water. This lone ruddy duck seems a bit out of place based on the range map, and is uncommon in my location. I was lucky to see it through it's migration.

Habitat:

Marsh, about 20 miles off the coast of Lake Huron
