Field Notes

Description:

I've always heard them described as having clown faces. The face is brown with white eyebrows and dark crest stripes. The back is streaked brown and the chest pale.

Habitat:

Found throughout much of North America in open grasslands. We flushed this guy from the tall grass as we drove by, and he went and perched on the tree until we passed.
