Description:

A small red ant with shiny (and hairy) black pointed abdomen.
The name derives from its heart shaped gaster (abdomen)
They can sting with their gaster.
There are 420 species in this genus so closer ID is unlikely.

Habitat:

Found a group living on a tree trunk under bark.
