Description:
A tiny fly of 3 mm, with silver bands on the end of the abdomen and on the sides of the thorax. The halteres are bright yellow and the legs are banded. This is probably a male since the red eyes are contiguous. Family Scatopsidae, the Minute Black Scavenger Flies.
Habitat:
Garden lights, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
