Field Notes

Description:

Small ducks Drakes - Dark Blue gray head with a black bill, crown and chin. Cheeks are marked with white crescents in front of the eyes. Body is brown with darker markings on the sides, white rump with black tail feathers.
Hen - Uniformly lght to medium brown with darker brown markings. Both sexes have pale blue colors in their wings.

Habitat:

Ponds, lakes, rivers, flooded grassy areas and lake margins that have vegetation
