Field Notes

Description:

About 6 feet tall at the tip of the flowering stalks. VERY sharp leaves. Individual blooms about tangerine-sized. Not noticably fragrant, but then I didn't even try to get near enough to smell them... I didn't want to get speared!

Habitat:

empty lot, next to a neighbor's home, Longleaf Pine/Turkey Oak sandhill habitat.

Notes:

These are the only ones I've seen in the area, so I'm not sure if they were planted or not. They are not on the homeowners property line, but just off it. Hard to say for sure.
