Field Notes

Description:

These were a very dark brwon with black depressed centres. The caps were delicate and about 10mm wide. Stipes were surprisingly tough, a dark brown and about five times the length of the cap height. Gills widely spaced and paler.

Habitat:

spotted in a tree hollow in very damp earth. damp fern forest gully in a Eucalyptus forest.

Mycena is very likely but there are also some small Conocybe and Galerina species which look a bit like that.
