Description:

A medium tree with thorny trunk and poisonous sap.
The sub-terminal flower is dark red and cone shaped.
The solitary fruit is round and explodes when ripe.

Habitat:

Planted in gardens and school campus.native to the West Indies.

Yes, it rains almost every day here so the tree never actually face any water deprivation. Not to mention the sun is very generous in the tropical region.
Sorry I only know this tree from my area of Thailand. So I'm not familiar with variations.But of course many plants and trees vary because of habitat.For example if a plant is shaded or in the sun it can vary,or dry or wet situations can produce large or small flowers or fruit. Maybe your tree gets watered every day.Who knows ? Your flower does look in great condition.
