Field Notes

Description:

Wood Ducks have a boxy, crested head, a thin neck, and a long, broad tail. Males have a glossy green head cut with white stripes, a chestnut breast and buffy sides. Females are gray-brown with white-speckled breast and a bright eye ring.

Habitat:

This pair are swimming down stream in a small wooded creek. The creek flows through a city soil conservation area that has several small city parks.
