Field Notes

Description:

Olive green Stink Bug with brown and white speckled elytra and a white heart-shaped tip to the scutellum. About 1 cm long. Family Pentatomidae.

Habitat:

In the garden, semi-rural area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Oh yes Livan, this is it! Thank you so much. This is a perfect match!
Lauren, looking for your other green stink bug, I came across a much better ID for this one. I'll give you an ID suggestion above of the species I think it is, but look through the rest of Banasa sp. as I'm not 100% sure.
Thank you Livan, I agree with your analysis. It probably is E. bifida with some local mexican color :)
This, I'm pretty sure, is an Edessa sp. It may be Edessa bifida, though none of the pics I see in bugguide have as white a speckle marking as yours. I don't know if is a local color variant, a peculiar individual, or a very close species. In this bifida pic you can kind of see the speckling: http://bugguide.net/node/view/180819
