Description:

A "peep" (small sandpiper) that nests mostly in northern Asia, with a small population in western Alaska, and shows up almost annually during fall migration along the Pacific Coast of North America. Note the brick-red throat of this breeding-plumaged bird, next to a plainer Western Sandpiper.
