Cotton cutworm moth

This cutworm moth flew out, from where I was watering the plants, on to the magnolia tree. The wingspan of the adult moth is 32–44 mm, mine being about 35 mm wingspan. The moth has very detailed and beautiful designs despite it's hungry appetite as caterpillars The larvae feed on various plants, including alfalfa, asparagus, bean, beet, cabbage, clover, corn, cotton, cucumber, hops, grape, grass, jimsonweed, morning glory, onion, pea, peach, peanut, sweet potato, swiss chard, tobacco, tomato, turnip, wheat, watermelon, wild onion, and most other plants with soft leaves.
