Description:

Deep red orchid flower on plant the size of a 2 to 3 foot shrub. Leaves are perfoliate.

Consider Limber Honeysuckle, Lonicera diocia for your ID http://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=lodi2 Lonicera sempervirens isn't known from Michigan and has completely different flowers http://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=LOSE
I was thrown off by the petals being in the state of dying back.
