Jersey Moth
Euplagia quadripunctaria
50.8648, 4.68905
Field Notes
Description:
In Belgium they call this moth Spanish Flag. I still don´t know very well why because it is not exactly alike the Spanish flag and actually some years is also common sight in Belgium.
In this spotting you can see that the underwings are beautiful red. It seems to like very much the flowers of the Hemp-Agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum), plant which in spite of its name does not seem to have anything to do with cannabis (in case you wondered :-).
Habitat:
Our lab garden, KU Leuven.
