Field Notes

Description:

orchid, epiphytic, pendulous plant with golf ball size ball purple flower bud

Habitat:

cloudforest, 2400m

Notes:

I only saw this plant twice. The first time it was very high up in a tree. The flower caught my eye as I passed by but it was too far away to tell what it really was. I was thinking maybe it was an orchid. Thankfully I spotted it again, this time hanging much lower in a tree so I could get better shots of it. I still didn't think it was an orchid, but I'm happy to learn that it actually was.
