Field Notes

Description:

Crane Fly larvae look much different then the actual crane fly. The larvae look like leeches and the adult look like huge mosquitos. The adult only lives about 10-15 days, and most of that is a being a larva. The only reason a crane fly lives is to mate and lay eggs. They are vegetarian when they are larvae and the adults don’t really eat.

Habitat:

They mostly live in changing climates such as North America.
