Field Notes

Description:

Green Turtle hatchlings emerging too close to dawn.

Habitat:

Beach, above mean high tide mark.

Notes:

About 100 hatchlings made it out of the nest, to face many patrolling gulls and ghost crabs. Only 4 made it to the water, and all of these were picked off by gulls. Natural selection against late hatching?
