Description:

large, several cm length black tenebrionid beetle (uv light causes the purple sheen in the 1st photo)

Habitat:

on sand Joshua Tree desert

Notes:

many individuals became active at dusk and active in total darkness, observed carrying various items: tan fuzzy seed, unknown round black sac, first individual viewed under UV light
