Field Notes

Description:

Vigorous, large-leaved plant with large (3 - 4 inches) pointed, hairy seed pods. See link for more details.

Habitat:

Hedgerows on a farm near Lima, New York. The milkweed was not appreciated by the farmer, only by me and the monarch butterflies. The surrounding fields were GMO corn and GMO soy. There were a few fields of clover in bloom where we did see some butterflies - too far away to photograph.

Notes:

My lifer milkweed plants! Have probably seen them before and not known what they were.
