Jitterbug opal
Chrysoritis zeuxo
-34.098, 18.4933
Field Notes
Description:
Very active little butterfly, from there the common name. Always on or near its larvae food plant, Chrysanthemoides monilifera.
Notes:
Chrysoritis zonarius which looks very similar to Chrysoritis zeuxo is called the donkey opal as it is much less active and easier to photograph. You can see one here: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/35573150
