thanks bayucca. i'm also torn between spider wasp and the emerald cockroach wasp being the latter very similar in terms of color. :)

I am not sure if this one really is Ampulex compressa. But indeed very similar. In my eyes Ampulex compressa should have orange parts in both, hindlegs and "middle" legs.
