Field Notes

Description:

This is an all black, small (some 30 cm in length incl tail) but incredibly aggressive Asian predatory songbird. Immature birds can show various quantity of light-grey feathers on belly and flanks (Pics 1 to 3).

Habitat:

Seen in great numbers in all visited rural areas in Teknaf peninsula; close to habitations and near agricultural fields. It is often associated with farming, and farmers appreciate it for Drongos help farmers in controlling animal pests.

Notes:

Considered subspecies of Fork-tailed Drongo until recently.
