Field Notes

Habitat:

a state-listed endangered species found naturally in south Florida in dry sites. Tropical hammock, coastal berm, shell mound. Disturbed area.

Notes:

There were a few clusters of these tall shrubs in a few places along this trail particularly near or in hammocks portions of the trail. One plant had a few Cotton Stainer bugs on it (see pic 3). Flowers are said to start of white and turn pinkish with age; however, I did notice a few with purplish violet flowers that I'm not sure if they are old flowers or a different color variety. (see pic 4)
