jelly fungus
Tremella cf. fuciformis
39.2909, -76.6108
Field Notes
Description:
Jelly fungus. The tiny coral-red flower looking jelly fungus is a species of fungi having a gelatin-like consistency. Do not possess a stem and have no gills. Seem to appear out of nowhere when moisture is abundant. Unable to identify specifically exactly what type of jelly it is. Also, did not know I had three spottings in one and it seems there are two types of fern on this rock. One looks like a type of Spleenwort (Asplenium) fern growing around the jelly fungus.
Habitat:
Growing on a rock in the woods near a stream at Patapsco State park in Baltimore, Maryland.
