Field Notes

Description:

This bumble bee spent a good hour hanging around our lilac. It was incorrectly labeled as a carpenter bee, but it's been corrected, thanks to Juan.

Habitat:

According to wikipedia, bumble bees prefer higher altitudes and latitudes, though some lowland tropical species are an exception. This one was in our backyard in the Hudson Valley.

Thank you for correcting this, Juan! I had a feeling the abdomen was too hairy to be a carpenter bee.
Hi iPlayBanjoNow, this is not a Carpenter bee, is a Bumblebee (Bombus sp.)
