Description:
Has long, gangly legs. Hangs from the two front legs, usually under vegetation. Light tan coloration, with light stripes on wings. Beak is moderately long.
Habitat:
Edge of deciduous forests.
Notes:
Hanging flies are related to scorpionflies. They often hang underneath vegetation to escape detection and perhaps to evade being captured by predators, such as birds or ants. They often hold prey in their two pairs of back legs while hanging from a twig.
