Hooded Oriole

A beautiful oriole species that nests in fan palms. Due to the widespread planting of their nesting trees, the species has spread further north, now breeding in many areas of northern California. They overwinter in coastal Central America. Like all blackbirds, this oriole's flight pattern consists of fluttering its wings and then folding them inwards before continuing to flutter again. This lucky picture caught the instance of when the bird was in flight with its wings tucked in, briefly turning it into a golden arrow.
