Field Notes

Description:

Small lark, slightly smaller than blackbird, of earthly brownish colours well camouflaged in garrigue. Distinguished by that long crest, long bill and streaked chest.

Habitat:

Mediterranean garrigue on top of the hill overlooking Dubrovnik and its riviera - the hill rise sharply behind the town, and leads to a plateau covered in garrigue.

Notes:

Even though omnipresent on that hill, this Larks proved a nightmare to photograph - i suppose because of the crowd hanging around and passing though this point of view... (By the way, it is great point of view, overlooking almost the entire Dubrovnik riviera). So it took me three visits up there to get three good pics (Pics N° 1 to 3), and I discarded over hundred blurred ones... The pic N° 4 should have been discarded too... but I found it cute, and, in absence of the better one from that angle, decided to keep it in the end
