Field Notes

Description:

Black-brown body, green head, black eyes, black wings with 2 half spots that were white.

"the wings of most damselflies are held along, and parallel to, the body when at rest. Furthermore, the hindwing of the damselfly is essentially similar to the forewing, while the hindwing of the dragonfly broadens near the base. Damselflies are also usually smaller than dragonflies and weaker fliers in comparison, and their eyes are separated."-Wikipedia

Habitat:

water's edge of the creek and the flooded banks of the marsh

Notes:

It is interesting to watch the wings flatten. They rest with the wings in line with their body, then it's a slow, stretching movement to flatten the wings and they flutter a few times, then snap back to the wings in-line with the body.
