It was actually the first time I had seen this spotting Dez. It makes for very uncomfortable viewing, but I think it is important to remind everyone that Project Noah is not just about sharing & appreciating great wildlife photos but a community that really does have the opportunity to become an instrument of change. We see the missions as being an important way of raising awareness, education, & a way of gathering the data needed for potentially lobbying the authorities responsible for policing these atrocities to take more direct action. Sadly this issue is a case of supply & demand, & while the demand for animal parts exists, there will always be those that are prepared to kill for the high rewards.

Unless we act now, this magnificent ancient species could disappear forever. The threat is so serious that action is needed globally. :(

Hi Karen, I agree. I will do so. Yes, it is disturbing, and I thought it was strange that you had it on project Noah, as I get to know project Noah better I can see this is a vivid image to share. But the plight of the Rhino is a real one. Just read in our news paper here that a count down to their extinction has begun. At this rate of a rhino being killed every 20 hours we have 7 years left to see them. What can one do against all this? But thank you for allowing this picture. And thank you for helping with the mission!

What a tragedy. We do not usually encourage users to share hunting or trophy photos because they can be distressing to other members of the community. This spotting however graphically (& very disturbingly) shows the reality of this foul trade - a vulnerable species slaughtered so that its horn can be removed & sold for medicinal use. We believe this is a very valuable image to raise awareness of the issue, & should be in the Rhino mission. Dez, because Alex hasn't visited the site in a while & may not pick up this comment, can I suggest you use this as your mission photo.

Very sad that Poachers shot them in eye...as their whole skin is armored..!!

Yes...very sad...and exposing Human's ugly side...

That is such a sad thing. Makes hate rush through the body. Poor thing.
