Field Notes

Description:

A moth in the Family Noctuidae (Owlet Moths). A bird-dropping mimicry. Wingspan 35-46 mm.

Habitat:

Attracted to lights in my backyard. Deciduous forest nearby.

Notes:

Larvae feed on leaves of several shrubs, vines: Ampelopsis, Buttonbush, grape, hops, Virginia Creeper.
