A grey snake that was around 3 feet long and left a very foul odor.

I agree with MitchRay, and the amphibian looks like a toad by the way it's puffed up (and not a frog).
Looks like a Blotched Water Snake, Nerodia erythrogaster transversa
Well I just happened to look out the window and see the snake burrowing his head in the crack by the front porch. Out popped a frog and the snake just grabbed him. The snake tried his best, but the frog escaped.
Wow! Neat shot...did you hear the frog croaking?
