Field Notes

Description:

Cladonia sp.lichen (green fungi stalks) growing in amongst star jelly (green jelly) inter-twined with chalk comb-moss.
The location where i spotted this grouping appears to have no documentation
on the diverse species of fauna and mysterious micro-organisms which dwell in the caves and crevises of the pre-historic rock formation.
such an diverse place.

Habitat:

I found this tiny eco-system at toad rock in tunbridge wells, there was a opening at the top of the rock which was exposed to significant moisture. The Environment is just so versatile.

Notes:

I am so impressed with this little cluster!

The jelly could be a Nostoc spp., known as star jelly, it is a cyanobacteria that goes unseen, until after it rains and swells into a gelatinous mass.
i believe the fungi may be CLADONIA SP. LICHEN, yet to find out what the jelly substance is!
