sorry, typo. My dog was bugging me when I posted and I gave uup trying to fix anything that day(she is tonight as well)
the scientific name is incorrectly spelled... "Zenaida macroura" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zenaida_macroura
Karen, that happens to me occasionally too - I use Safari on my mac so it seems to be a problem with all of the internet systems.
I'm using my laptop and Firefox. I fixed the spotting from my mom's desktop and IE and it said I couldn't upload a picture(which was fine). Thanks, I will contact support
Some other rangers have had problems using Internet Explorer or Firefox...they mentioned uninstalling & reinstalling the program.
Karen what device are you uploading from?
I would love to know why when I uploaded and saved this sighting this morning, I saw it complete. When I came back it was listed as draft and I saw with none of my descriptions, the common name or the scientific name which I had typed in. This happens occasionally and is VERY frustrating!
Ava...If you have time to look up the scientific name and a source and are sure...go for it. I was just being lazy on this one....but if I'm not totally confident of the ID...I'll just suggest.
ceherzog -- I'm curious as to when to "Suggest an ID" and when to just write a comment. How I'm doing it is to "Suggest" when I'm pretty sure (as in this instance), and to comment when I'm not quite sure enough but am offering a species for the spotter to investigate further (since they actually saw the organism in the flesh, so to speak).
