Field Notes

Description:

Male is skyblue with greyish and white front, no rufous like the Western Bluebird. Female is brownish grey overall, like the colour of the open grasslands she prefers. Photo #2.

Notes:

There were many Mountain Bluebirds along this road, White Lk Rd, on the fences and power lines near nesting boxes. They would be leaving soon for warmer places as it froze the night before I took these pics and the insects that they need to survive will soon be gone.
