Field Notes

Description:

Small heron, all white wings, sexes alike. Breeding head and neck orange buff grading into chestnut on lower neck and breast

Habitat:

Recent colonist of the Philippines found singly or in flocks in ricefields and marshes. Passive feeder, stands and waits for prey at edge of water. 1 race - speciosa in Mindanao.

Notes:

Previously mapped in Mindanao regions but this one was my first record in Candaba Swamps, Pampanga, Luzon, Philippines
