Black-tailed Prairie Dog

I've been trying to get a photo of a prairie dog "barking" for quite a while, but I'd always miss the peak action when the dog has its head tipped upwards as they put as much energy as possible into this particular alarm call. What I found was that they would be most likely to bark when I first showed up. After a minute or so, they'd relax and it was unlikely that any of them would bark. I took this photo and then headed to the Badlands where I found white color phase black-tailed prairie dogs, which I've included in another spotting.
