Description:

cantalope-sized cluster

Habitat:

spotted high on trunk of live oak along Indian River

Notes:

Also called chicken of the woods, purportedly because it tastes like chicken.

I was surprised to find this fungus still in place nearly three months later. I've added a photo of the paled but reasonably intact cluster.
