The red bugs appear to be Small Milweed Bug nymphs (Lygaeus kalmii). See http://bugguide.net/node/view/200530 for more information. The wasp is one of the paper wasps. Bugguide.net is a good resource to narrow your ID. Try starting at http://bugguide.net/node/view/384/bgimage. There's a lot of them, however. I agree with Apple that it would be good to split this into two separate spottings, meaning each on their own page.
These are both beautiful spottings. They do however appear to be different insects. You should separate them into two different spottings. Great photos.
