Description:

Gray bird with yellow chest, white chin, long black, forked tail that have white outer feathers and a dark line through eye.

Habitat:

Unknown dormant tree at Shady Lake in Kit Carson Park. "These birds migrate to their winter quarters between Southern California and northern Central America. They are permanent residents in south-central Mexico, and their main wintering ranges are west of the Sea of Cortez on Baja California Sur, and east of the sea on the mainland of western Mexico." - Wikipedia

Notes:

"They build a bulky nest on a horizontal tree limb in mid-story or the canopy of trees. The three to five spotted white eggs have an incubation period of 18 to 19 days." - Wikipedia

Hi Liam, I thought Cassin's first too but when I read the description, it said the tail wasn't forked. That was the only thing that swayed me to Western. As always, thank you for your amazing bird expertise!
Western Kingbirds are brighter, also note the contrasting white chin, a unique field mark of Cassin's Kingbird. Nice spotting!
