Field Notes

Description:

Very big pink bud and when open it has a big seedpod. The leaves of this kind are rather frilly. Often the lotus is confused with the Lilly.

Habitat:

Thailand

Notes:

The way the Thai greet each other and us is by holding the hands in front of their body/face. This represents the lotus bud, which is very important in Thai Buddhist Culture.
This Lotus was in my garden in 2007, but I have not managed to get it to flower since.
